Park City Initiative/The Bishop Jean Williams Food Pantry Response to Covid-19

 

For the safety of everyone we have made changes to the way our food pantry operates.  On March 18th we began operating a drive through pantry on the premises instead of having people come inside to get their food.   For those who do not have a vehicle and are coming to pick up food we are practicing social distancing. We are also placing the food in a spot for to be picked up at the regular appointment time.  We have also started a delivery service for those unable to come to the pantry to get their food.  All volunteers, including our drivers practice social distancing when leaving your food,  are wearing gloves and are encouraged to wear protective masks.  

 

 

Park City Initiative/The Bishop Jean Williams Food Pantry safe food handling practices that are in place will help to protect against spread of the illness.

• Staff and volunteers handling food are required to wear gloves while working

• Staff and volunteers are practicing social distancing

• Our facilities are equipped with places to wash and to sanitize hands. In addition, a hand sanitizer dispenser is prominently displayed at the door. Everyone entering is required to sanitize before entering the building.

• Surfaces where foods are placed, sorted, and prepared are sanitized daily

 

 

Staff and volunteers are encouraged to focus on health first:

• Staff and volunteers  have been instructed that if they are ill, they should stay home. If they have fever, cough, body aches or other symptoms reported as possible with Coronavirus, they should contact a health care provider.

• As stated previously, staff and volunteers  handling food must wear gloves. Gloves are changed frequently during the day. If gloves are damaged, they must be replaced. After taking breaks, all must wash hands thoroughly and put on fresh gloves before returning to work.

• There are hand sanitizers and handwashing locations throughout our building.
