One Woman’s Action Sparks One Million Meals

Our Story From Roots To Wings
Park City Initiative Corp. (PCI) was born from a simple, heartfelt cry for help. In 1999, the late Bishop Jean Williams asked her daughter, Mary Green (now PCI’s CEO), for assistance in providing more food to the families who came to her in need. Moved by her mother’s request, Mary reached out to community partners, including what is now known as CT Foodshare, along with local stores, corporations, businesses, churches, and compassionate individuals. Together, they began building a network of support for families facing food insecurity. What started as one woman’s call to action has grown into a powerful community response that provides pathways of hope that lead to real solutions. Today, PCI, through its star program, the Bishop Jean Williams Community Market, helps provide more than one million meals each year to families working hard to make ends meet because no one should have to face hunger alone.

Event Information
Food insecurity and families facing hunger problems are increasing at an alarming pace. Here at the Bishop Jean Williams Food Pantry and Community Market, we have been helping families for over 23 years. Currently, we provide over ONE MILLION MEALS annually to over 900 families with an increase of 20% in the past two months! Every year, Park City Initiative (PCI) hosts a Walk-A-Thon fundraiser and friend-raiser. The PCI Walk-A-Thon is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026, with the goal to have over 300 people run or walk 5K. We are inviting companies and foundations to be
sponsors, reaching out to churches and other agencies that support pantries, and asking our volunteers and loyal donors to support this vitally important fundraiser with a goal of $60,000.
Please partner with Park City Initiative (PCI) nonprofit organization that sponsors the Bishop Jean Williams Food Pantry and Community Market as well as several other programs for children and families.
